When people ask me what my favorite Bible verse is, I like to joke that it's Deuteronomy 23:13 ("As part of your equipment have something to dig with, and when you relieve yourself, dig a hole and cover up your excrement"). Always fun when they come back to me later.
But it's actually Psalms 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted in the nations; I will be exalted in the Earth."
I love it because it's a reminder: Stop for a second, no matter how busy things get, and just feel His presence.
I'd be lying if I said things around here aren't totally nuts. For Allyson there's Girl Scouts, and floor hockey (which just finished; her team got 2nd place in the consolation tournament), and softball is coming up, and she's in a school choir, and a school running club. As far as Girl Scouts go we have a Day at the Capitol coming up (it's where a bunch of troops from across the state meet at the capitol for a day of scouting-related stuff; I promise it's a lot more fun than I just made it sound).
Ben has a work conference this week (he goes every year; this year it's only one night though). On top of that he has praise band, youth praise band, Sunday school (he just accepted a position as our class's new teacher), and he's taking classes online for programming. All THAT, on top of a 40-hour-a-week job.
I have work, Benson buddies, PTA (Carnival is this week; thank goodness it's almost over!), and I'm babysitting my niece tomorrow night. On top of THAT! Ben and I are celebrating our 14th wedding anniversary on April 27.
Whew!
It's enough to totally overwhelm one, isn't it?
This verse has come up a lot this week. I found a picture with that verse on it at Dollar Tree (of all places); I knew I had to have it. It was the daily reading in Allyson's children's Bible on Wednesday. And on Wednesday night, Ben said the youth band sang Psalms 46 as part of their warmup.
In a previous post, I said I don't always get when God is speaking to me. But, I hear Him loud and clear now!
It's going to be busy, my child. I know. But just be still and know that I am God.
I hear you, Lord!
