So You Want to Open Your Availability

You might write a note to your HR rep. You might tell her you can work days, now that you know can send Allyson to the Boys & Girls Club after school.

She'll schedule you some day shifts. She may even schedule you for a nine-hour shift on a Tuesday. You'll gripe about it, but you'll work it because your kid is going to college in ten years.

Two weeks later, she'll call you - "The store manager and I were thinking," she'll say, "how would you like to cover the register in Pharmacy sometimes? Like when people go on vacation?"

For some weird reason, you will agree to this.

THEN, the HR rep will tell you that in order to legally run the register in Pharmacy, you need a Pharmacy Tech license. "The store will pay for it," she says.

So you go in on your day off and you become a licensed Pharmacy Tech.
