July Ipsy Glam Bag!

As predicted, my July Ipsy bag came today.

Left to right: Trust Fund Beauty nail polish in No Filter, Eva NYC Get Glossed! Hair Serum, Mellow Baked Eyeshadow in Coco, Make Up For Ever Excessive Lash, J. Cat Perfect Duo Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown. And the bag, on my look-I-know-I-need-to-replace-it kitchen counter.

The bag? Went in the trash immediately after this photo. It's cute, but it stinks to high heaven. What is UP with that?! I could smell it through the bubble mailer. Truly astonishing. I also thought those were peppermints at first. Because I'm dumb.

I also totally cracked up at the mascara. Because, according to a Seventeen magazine I read in high school, I am already a walking fashion "Don't." That is, my eyelashes are so long they touch the lenses of my glasses. The last thing I need is to make them longer. I do wear mascara sometimes, but never a lengthening formula. Meh, I'll try it out anyway.

Product reviews to follow.

June Ipsy Glam Bag!

I decided recently that I am not nice enough to myself, and I wanted to do a little something to treat myself. I'd heard a lot about Ipsy and figured, why not? Ten bucks a month gets you a little makeup bag full of samples and full-sizes of makeup personally tailored to you. You just take a quiz to get set up!

Today my June bag came. I know, I know, it's July already. But I signed up late last month, so I just got it. Sure enough, today when I went to the mailbox and saw the purple bubble mailer I got excited.

Here's what I got:

From left to right: The Balm Meet Matt(e) Trimony Eyeshadow in Matt Kumar (which is a matte cranberry), Liptini Cream Lipcolor in Pink-tini, Crown Blush Three-Tone Bronzer, Formula X Nail Polish in Wingwoman (that amazing red you see there), and clariSEA Deep Pore Detox Activated Charcoal Exfoliating Mask.  All pictured with this month's bag, on my wrinkly bed.

I am a little underwhelmed by the bag itself. Maybe Allyson will play with it, or something. I haven't actually tried any of the samples just yet, but expect pictures when I do. Overall, so far I really like this service. I don't like spending a ton of money on makeup (because, what if I hate it?) so this seems like a neat way to try it out before I shell out full price. When I worked at Kmart I liked to buy makeup on clearance. I got my discount on top of that too! (Sometimes makeup got clearanced because they changed the packaging, or the formula, or if they were discontinuing a color.  I figure I can always find a similar shade if I really fall in love with it.)

I am really excited about that lip color and the eyeshadow.  And if that exfoliating mask can make my skin look good I am all for it.

So, that's what I've got so far! Further reviews are pending.
