So today Ben went to run some errands and such - go to the laundromat and the grocery store, as he does every Saturday morning. Allyson and I were playing with her Mega Bloks, and I got to thinking about her doctor appointment a few days ago. Not about the actual appointment itself - her 18 month checkup, where we learned that she is tall and skinny for her age (33 1/2 inches, 21 lbs 13 oz), and where she freaked out the entire time.

I got to thinking about how beforehand, I got myself all fixed up for the doctor. Allyson normally has a female doctor, but this cute young male pediatrician joined the practice and that's who she was seeing that day. And this being a cute young male doctor, I got all prettied up - put on makeup, did my hair (and by "did my hair," I mean I did something other than my usual ponytail), put on a cute top.

And I honestly could not remember the last time I did that for Ben.

So, I did it today while he was out errand-running - put on makeup, left my hair down, put on a cute top and jeans that actually fit. Just to see if he'd notice.

And... he didn't.

I pointed it out to him, and he seemed pleased that I'd gone through the effort. Maybe I need to do it more often, or more obviously, I don't know.

Allyson is currently yelling at me because I don't have the window open. Kid, it's 29 degrees out, I am NOT OPENING THE WINDOW. That's my nutball kid for ya.
