There's this one Elmo's World that Ben and I like to make fun of a lot. I forget what exactly the subject is - hands, maybe? - but it has a bunch of kids showing Dorothy (the fish) how they wash their hands. One kid says, "I'm washin' my haaaaaands!" and the other says the line I used for my subject.
Ben and I make fun of children on TV, and therefore are awesome example-setters for our child.
Speaking of Allyson, our second attempt at Toddler Time failed even more miserably than the first. So we (well, me but you don't hear her arguing) decided to forgo Toddler Time until she's older. Maybe after she turns two.
The top eye teeth are through! The bottom ones just broke the surface. Now we're just waiting on her last set of molars and we'll be caught up on teeth until they start falling out. Yay!
We all just got over colds. Allyson got it first (looks like her allergies WERE a cold). Then Ben got it. And THEN, in a strange turn of events, I got it. I say this is strange because the last time Ben and Ally were both sick, it skipped me. Luckily a co-worker told me about zinc lozenges. And they really did help! I only felt like death for about three days. But I was congested for well over a week and a half - I started getting sick two weeks ago, and I'm just now starting to sound normal again. It was pretty Fran Drescher-esque for awhile there.
Yet another strange turn of events: I was watching Food Network Challenge the other night. They were doing Spongebob cakes and were about ten minutes away from announcing the winner when Allyson started asking to watch Sesame Street. (And, of course, by "asking to watch Sesame Street" I really mean "pointing at the TV and saying 'Elmo?'") I said, "Allyson, if you want to watch Elmo you have to say please."
Blank stare. More pointing. "Elmo?"
"Allyson, you need to say please if you want to watch Elmo, okay?"
Pause as the child smiles and bats her eyelashes. "Peese?"
Cue Mommy and Daddy falling over.
And yes, she did get to watch Elmo. (She was gracious enough to let me see who won, too.)
I just watched the episode you mentioned and I googled to see if anybody else thought it was as funny as I did. My wife and I are going around the house saying "It's not too hot Dorothy" and cracking up! I'm glad we're not the only ones.
